Hi, I’m Suze.
I am a mindfulness teacher, mindset and empowerment coach, passionate about sharing tools for more conscious and intentional living, so that we can awaken to our true selves.
I have navigated three successful career changes; started two businesses; backpacked through nearly 70 countries, lived and worked across three continents; journeyed through anxiety, depression, accident trauma and chronic pain; and am mum to a 4 year old and 2 year old twins.
I’m a deep-thinking, truth-seeking, soul-searching change-maker who is deep into learning, personal growth and self-development, spirituality, mindfulness and intentional living.
I’m definitely still a work in progress (#humanAF) but I consciously choose to make each day better than the last.
Life inside my head is so much calmer, kinder and compassionate these days. My thoughts, beliefs and actions are aligned with who I want to be.
For the most part – I am calm and present with my kids, aware of my mental and emotional landscape, compassionate to myself when things don’t go to plan, and celebrate all the blessings I do have.
I make space for what matters, and live aligned with my values and purpose.
But this wasn’t always my experience…
My journey here took a near death experience to wake me up to what really matters, and to who I really am.
Seven years ago I was involved in a near-fatal motor vehicle accident while travelling through South America on extended honeymoon with my husband. Very badly injured, but grateful to be alive, the accident cracked me wide open and led me to question everything about my life, beliefs and behaviours.
I realised that I needed to heal from the inside out.
THE AWAKENING
The accident literally forced me to slow down and be still, and when I turned my awareness to my internal world I didn’t like what I saw. Despite all the external markers of success I had achieved (Honours and Masters degrees, six-figure salary, international travel, marriage, home ownership), my thought patterns were largely negative, fear-based and self-defeating.
I lived in my head. ALL. THE. TIME. And it was pretty scary up there.
I was so self-critical, anxious, judgemental, ruminated on the past, and was seeking recognition, guidance and fulfilment from outside myself.
Armed with this insight, alongside my physical recovery, I made mental health my priority, and spent hundreds of hours studying mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro-linguistic Programming, consciousness, neuroscience, quantum physics, personal development tools, energy psychology and meditation.
I worked with a psychologist to heal my past, and life coach to get clear on my vision and purpose to design my future.
I began to apply what I was learning, and practiced self-compassion and treated myself with loving kindness.
I consciously began to change my damaging thought patterns and beliefs. I started to notice major shifts inside me: my inner critic was less vocal; I relinquished my need to judge and control everything; I was calmer, kinder and more compassionate to myself and to others; and I experienced deep joy, gratitude and peace on a daily basis.
I literally rewired my brain for success.
RECONNECTING WITHIN
I began to ask myself the deeper questions about my heart and soul passions and found my way back into a artisan life of making and creative expression, reigniting my art practice through painting and pottery, and started a thriving ceramics business.
I deepened into the process of knowing myself – ALL of me – journeying deeper into my own soul healing and embracing a holistic model of personal development that integrated physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
Becoming a mother illuminated every part of me: my light and my dark, and required me to heal those parts of me that had previously avoided, suppressed or numbed. It required me to face all of my fears, rise up, and decide who I wanted to be as a person and a parent. Above all, I wanted my children to know the power of love, and that they were loved completely and unconditionally, and I learned to extend that to myself also.
My decision to train as a life coach was simply one of those “follow the bread crumbs moments” where I leant in to my curiosities and watered my seeds of my soul’s desire. Aside from becoming a mother, it was the best decision I have ever made.
Now I hold sacred and transformational space for my clients to access their own light. To clear away the fear, doubt, anxiety, and unhelpful negative self-talk that keeps them trapped playing a smaller game, but desperately wanting more.
I know that the path ahead is unknown, and often it feels lonely and scary to go there, especially when riddled with self-doubt. I have walked this journey, (and am still walking the path, because #Human), but if you want support and guidance, then I would be honoured to support you on your own journey.
